Boat Detailing in Saratoga Springs

You're on Utah Lake — which is the most demanding water in the state for a hull. Shallow, warm, heavy with minerals and sediment, and prone to algae blooms most summers. We come to you and deal with what it leaves behind.

The Utah Lake Problem

Nowhere in the State Is Harder on a Hull

Jordanelle and Deer Creek are cold, deep, and relatively clean. Utah Lake is the opposite — shallow enough to warm up fast, stirred constantly so there's sediment in suspension, and carrying serious mineral load. It's a great lake to live on and a hard one on gelcoat.

Three things show up on nearly every Saratoga Springs boat we look at: a stained band right at the waterline, hard-water spotting across the hull sides, and a chalky feel to gelcoat that should still be glossy.

Waterline staining

Algae and mineral scum leave a band along the hull that regular soap will not remove. It needs proper decontamination, and if it's been there a season, correction.

Sediment film

Suspended silt settles onto the hull and dries into a dull haze. Wiping it dry drags grit across gelcoat and puts fine scratches in the finish.

Fast turnaround use

Living this close means short evening runs, several times a week. Great for you. It also means the hull never really gets dry and clean between outings.

Questions

Saratoga Springs Boat Detailing FAQ

Can you get the Utah Lake waterline stain off?

Usually. If it's surface deposit, decontamination lifts it. If it's been through a full season and etched into the gelcoat, that's correction work — machine polishing, sometimes wet sanding — and we quote it after seeing the boat. We'll tell you honestly which one you're looking at.

I rinse it after every trip. Is that enough?

It helps more than most things, and it's why your boat is probably in better shape than your neighbor's. But rinsing with hard water still leaves minerals behind as it dries. Rinsing plus a protective layer is what actually holds the finish.

Do you come to the house or the marina?

Either. We bring our own water and power, so wherever the boat sits works.
