What we collect, why we collect it, and who else sees it. Written to be read, not to be skipped.
Effective date: August 12, 2026
Applies to: saltymountainprotection.com and the services we provide
under the name Salty Mountain Detail & Protection.
The short version. We collect what we need to quote your job and show up to do it — your name, how to reach you, and what you want us to work on. We don't sell it, we don't rent it, and we don't run advertising trackers on this website. If you'd like your information deleted, email us and we'll delete it.
When you fill in the quote form on this site, we receive:
If you call, text, or email us instead, we receive whatever you tell us in that conversation, along with your phone number or email address.
Depending on how you choose to pay, your payment is handled by Square, QuickBooks Payments, or Venmo. Each of those collects your payment details directly — we never see or store your full card number or bank details. What reaches us is your name, contact details, what you bought, and when.
If you pay by Venmo, that payment happens inside Venmo's own app under Venmo's privacy settings, not ours. Venmo has historically made transactions visible to others by default and has been changing that. Whether your payment to us is visible to anyone else is controlled by your Venmo privacy setting, not by us — we can't change it on your behalf. If that matters to you, check your setting before paying, or pay another way.
Our web host records standard server logs, including IP addresses and which pages were requested. This is ordinary infrastructure logging used to keep the site running and block abuse. We don't use it to build a profile of you.
What we don't collect. We don't ask for your date of birth, your social security number, or your financial account details. We don't buy information about you from data brokers, and we don't try to identify you across other websites.
We use your information to:
We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we don't profile you for advertising.
We do not sell your personal information. We have never done so and we have no plans to. We also don't share it for anyone else's advertising.
We do use a small number of service providers to run the business. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job:
Beyond that, we'd only disclose your information if the law required it, or if it were genuinely necessary to protect someone's safety or our legal rights. If our business were ever sold or merged, customer records could transfer as part of that — we'd tell you first.
This website sets no cookies and runs no trackers. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no session recording, and no third-party script following you between sites. We built it that way deliberately. That's also why you're not seeing a cookie banner — there's nothing to consent to.
If you follow a link from here to another site — Square's booking page, our Google Business Profile, or a social account — that site has its own privacy practices and this policy stops at our edge.
We invite you to call or text us, and a lot of our quoting happens that way. If you text us, we keep the conversation so we have a record of what was agreed. Standard message and data rates from your carrier apply.
If we've ever texted you and you'd rather we didn't, reply STOP or just tell us. We'll stop. We may still contact you about a job you've actually booked.
We take before-and-after photos of most jobs. We use them internally to document condition and to settle any question about what a surface looked like when it arrived.
We may also use them publicly — on this website, on social media, or in a quote to another customer. When we do, we exclude anything identifying: we blur or crop out registration numbers, hull identification numbers, and licence plates. We don't publish your name alongside a photo unless you've told us we can.
If you'd rather we never publish photos of your boat or vehicle, say so at any point — before, during, or years after the job — and we'll take them down.
Whatever state you live in, you can ask us to:
Email austin@saltymountainprotection.com and we'll take care of it. We aim to respond within a few days and won't charge you for it.
Two honest limits. If you have an active Yacht Armor™ warranty, deleting your record means we can no longer support a claim under it — we'll flag that before doing anything, so you can decide. And we can't delete completed invoices or payment records, because tax law requires us to keep them for seven years. We can delete everything else.
This site is served over HTTPS. Our email and business records sit behind multi-factor authentication, and payment data is handled entirely by Square, which is PCI-compliant — card numbers never reach us.
We're a small business, not a bank, and we won't pretend any system is perfect. What we can promise is that we don't hold data we don't need, which is the most effective security measure available to a company our size.
Our services are for adults, and this site isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant — a new category of data, or a new party receiving it — we'll say so plainly here rather than burying it.
